2014 VW Golf is pretty good Ive been happy so far with the 2014 VW golf. Petrol version. Drives powerfully, comfortable, quite cheap to run on long distances. No problems so far, but I am a bit concerned that repairs will be pricey when or if something goes wrong. I think I would go with Toyota or Mazda or Subaru next time. Show details

Front diff is part of the gearbox and shares it's oil with that but I 've not seen an official guide on changing the front transmission oil. I've found some information that says a PP GTI with the electronic diff should have a gearbox oil change every 3 years but can't find anything for the R. The recommended oil under the hood is SAE 0W-30 & VW 504 00 for the 7.5 R. Now for the MK7 from what Ive heard is VW 502. I was going to buy Motul 5w-40 which is VW 502, I have mates which use that in their Mk7 R's. I find it interested that VW switched recommendation to the VW 504 for the 7.5 R.

During last 8k miles, the highest I've ever put in my tank before today was 10.6 gallons. So for my vehicle these numbers are Fuel Tank Capacity = About 11.9 Gallons
Interesting that the washer for the oil plug is more expensive than the plug itself !!! Also, I was charged for 4 units of Castro Edge oil even though it says that the oil comes in 208L bulk container (5W30 208L).
